Imagine a museum with a large “M”, a real and undoubtedly expressive museum, this is the MAS Museum aan de Stroom. A complete, iconic and contemporary museum. Our experience soon begins in the space reserved for the museum on the edge of the river Scheldt, a perfect setting to tell an epic story.

This is the port area of Antwerp, it is Europe’s second-largest seaport, after Rotterdam. Place of many stories that translate the spirit of a small country – in territory – but great in its forces. The museum reserves a beautiful architecture for the look, with its cube shape suspended in the waters. There are 10 floors, we have the reception, offices, temporary and permanent exhibitions, a restaurant and on top in the 10th floor a panoramic view of the city and the river Scheldt.

The visit is an incredible experience of knowledge and reflection, each level reveals a different and complex moment. The collection contains over 470,000 objects and is still being added to and we can find the Ethnographic Museum, the National Maritime Museum, the Folklore Museum a part of the collection from the Vleeshuis Museum | Klank van de Stad (items unrelated to music) and the Paul en Dora Janssen-Arts collection of Pre-Columbian art. Between floors the view in the museum that incorporates with the outer space is wonderful. I’m leaving posting some photos down below, but it’s just a small detail of a fantastic museum, I loved it and my family too.

Thanks once again and Valew Valew 😉
